Cyber- Gender Based Violence

At Light and Hope Initiative, we believe that the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) must begin with awareness, education, and community involvement. Through our GBV program, we partner with schools to establish GBV Clubs—safe, student-led spaces where young people can learn about their rights, understand the forms and impacts of GBV, and speak out against harmful norms. These clubs empower students with knowledge, life skills, and peer support to challenge silence, stigma, and violence. By engaging both girls and boys early, we aim to prevent GBV before it happens and help build a generation that values equality, respect, and safety for all. Together, we’re breaking the cycle of GBV that continues to affect too many lives in Kenya.

about-3-shape-2

Gender based violence is a common gross human rights violation- it knows no social, political or economic boundaries; it is more rampant in informal settlements, leading to an erosion of dignity, health, security and autonomy of victims who are mostly women, adolescents/youth, girls and persons with disabilities. We commit to alleviate the chances of violence in collaboration with response and recovery institutions, create awareness/advocate and lobby against different forms of violence, community sensitization on media including social media, arts, trainings and economic empowerment initiatives..
