Building a world where everybody has a chance to live a fulfilling life

A Holistic Approach to Addressing Poverty

Poverty stretches across the entire Mathare slums, affecting almost everyone in this area. Its effects reach deeper. Uniquely connected to different causes, the effects of poverty are revolving—one result leads to another source, which leads to another consequence. Our consolidated initiative addresses brokenness in every sector of life to bring light and hope where none existed before. Every Light and Hope program seeks to educate, empower, restore, and redeem.

Educate

The Next Generation

We support the vulnerable children in Mathare by paying for their school fees, two meals each day, school uniforms, issuing them with stationaries and their basic medication.

Redeem

Through the Gospel of Christ

Jesus Christ is our source of hope. In all we do, we seek to draw men, women, and children to Him. To help them experience God’s love for the first time or in a fresh way

Too Many People Live in Physical and Spiritual Poverty

Parents everywhere want to give their children everything they need to thrive. The trouble is, some people are living in extreme poverty, and their ability to provide for their children is limited by circumstances outside their control.
Living on less than $2/day, with no viable avenues to earn more, parents feel stuck, even hopeless—forced daily to pick and choose which critical needs to meet. No one should be confined to a life of poverty.

Together, We Can Help

We partner with individuals, churches, and organizations around the world to offer physical, emotional, and spiritual support to vulnerable children and their families so they can lift themselves out of generational poverty and experience life-transforming hope through Jesus Christ.

LAHI's Commitment

70% of the world's extreme poor live in sub-Saharan Africa. We’re on a mission to change that.

Our vision is to create educated, empowered and productive communities in Kenya, inspired by faith, hope, and love.

Our Girls in STEM Program (GiSTEM)is leading way in breaking barriers for Girls in Kenya

We recognize that systemic barriers hold young women back from accessing quality education globally—especially women in Sub-Saharan Africa—and that the gender gap is especially prominent in STEM. We are determined to change that. The GiSTEM Accelerators program brings together young women in Kenya with their counterparts in the USA and Canada who are passionate about STEM. The goal is to create a transformative one-on-one experience where they share their stories, experiences, and challenges.

Our recent events

LAHI are giving children the tools and resources they need to break the cycle of poverty and achieve their full potential. Their work pulled hard on my heartstrings - it's incredibly humbling and truly highlights just how much I take for granted each day. I believe that their work will have a lasting impact on the lives of the children they serve, and I'm thrilled to be able to support their efforts.
