Children in Mathare Valley, are born into a world of hardship and struggle they did not choose. These children face numerous challenges from the day they are born. Malnutrition, poor living conditions, and lack of access to medical care all contribute to high infant mortality rates. Those who survive infancy face a daunting future with limited access to education, healthcare, and job opportunities. Many children in Mathare end up living on the streets, engaging in dangerous and illegal activities just to survive.

Despite the gloomy outlook in Mathare Valley, at Light and Hope Initiative, we believe that investing in the children education, offering proper resources and support that trickle down to the youth, further championing training programs that equip young people with skills and knowledge necessary to transform food systems and promote inclusivity and social justice, we can all make so much impact within a short period of time.
